That was unexepected and many of you may have not heard about it, but it is here. vRealize Automation 8 was announced at VMworld 2019 US.
New Architecture
vRealize Automation 8 comes with a new and modern platform built on a container-based architecture that offers more scalability and performance than in previous versions.
No more Windows Server machine is required for the installation. Yes, you read right! Administrators and Engineers working on vRA 6 and 7 would be more than happy to hear that, as previous installations were a real pain and especially with vRA 6.
Only one VM can now run all vRA services but the infrastructure can also be extented to support a three nodes configuration if more scaling and high availability is required.
The installation have also been simplified by using the “Easy Installer” tool that will install the following components for new deployment :
- vRealize Lifecycle Manager 8.0
- Workspace ONE Access
- vRealize Automation 8.0
Once your installation is done, vRealize Lifecycle Manager will be managing continuously the lifecycle of Workspace ONE Access and vRA.
vRealize Automation 8.0 Components
- VMware Cloud Assembly™ – Orchestrates infrastructure and application delivery across hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
- VMware Service Broker™ – Aggregates content from multiple resources and platforms, including VMware Cloud Assembly, vRealize Orchestrator™ and native public clouds, into a common product catalog. Provides a self-service model with flexible, policy-based guardrails for governance.
- VMware Code Stream™ – Automates the application delivery process with release pipeline management, including visibility and analytics into active pipelines and their status for troubleshooting. Allows DevOps teams to leverage existing tools and processes with out-of-the-box integrations.
vRealize Automation 8.0 loves Multi-Clouds
With vRealize Automation 8, deploying workloads on multi-cloud platforms has been improved and enhanced. This offers now so many possibilities and gives customers plenty of choice to extend their private cloud to a public cloud provider such as AWS, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform.
There is a new feature allowing you to share blueprints across multi-cloud plateforms so you can run them on the cloud of your choice.
vRealize Automation 8 has raised the bar very high with that new release and shows again that it’s a great Cloud Management product for private, hybrid and now muti-cloud environments.
Use cases for using vRealise Automation 8
vRealize Automation was built to help customers simplify the management of their infrastructure by automating IT processes and reducing manual intervention. vRA continues to do what it does best but with a lot of improvements and enhancement that include : easier management and configuration but also multi-cloud extension.
Here are some use cases where vRA 8 could help customers to achieve their goals.
- Hybrid Cloud Management – Manage cloud environments based on VMware vSphere® across on-premises and VMware Cloud on AWS.
- Multi-cloud Extension – leverage native public cloud services with governance.
- Application Delivery with DevOps – automate the application development lifecycle from end to end with release pipelines across a multi-cloud environment.
- Manage Kubernetes Workloads – deploy VM- or container-based applications on any cloud. Manage Kubernetes workloads with governance across a multi-cloud environment.
vRealize Automation 8.0 should be available in November 2019, and I can’t wait to start my first deployment and discover all the awesomeness of that new release. I’ll get back to you guys in a new blog post once I know more about that new release and happy VMworld 2019 to all the lucky attendees 🙂
